Maybe forgive and forget is too much to ask, but to let go of it all [is]… refreshing...

If I were to count the days
I would find myself ahead of them
Fondling the wounds of my past
Maybe forgive and forget is too much to ask
But to let go of it all, amazing
the people and the places and the events
to let them free is ahhh…

Sometimes we are the ones who weigh ourselves down, preventing movement. Sometimes we cannot blame the external force; sometimes we can only blame our own hold on them. And sometimes we hold on in an effort and an urge to not forget.

Perhaps forgiveness is too much to ask for — however, all we must do is let go. No longer thinking of the past, no longer reflecting on all that has gone wrong. No longer grasping for straws, pondering 'why?' It is as simple as turning our palm downward, releasing our grasp and grip, and allowing the pain to shatter to the floor. No counting of the remnants, no lingering. Only allowing the past to disintegrate before us, and walking away. Hence, freedom from the weight of preceding years is only a few steps from where we are standing now... just walk.

Letting go... is the ultimate freedom. •
