One moment, a quick bite of refusal...

One moment
A quick bite of refusal
A resolution to one mind
The consistent insistence of another
Just short of a begging
The breaking of hearts
The persistence of this
the breaking
Though, to each their own
the breaking, for reasons of their own
But resolute is the entirety of it all
Now
Out of my hands
And out of time and out of possibility and the consistent breaking of my heart about the matter
And soon, though much later if in my power, the acceptance of it all •

Sometimes you can feel the same type and degree of pain as another, and still be unable to reconcile. And at times the heartbreak is between friends. Maybe dreams agreed upon in the past are no longer possible as each party deviates in their own personal lives.

However, I read a quote once which can be paraphrased as such: Accept rejection, as it is the universe's way of disallowing us to settle for less.

You know, foresight is myopic, while hindsight is acute. Truly, the thing I hoped for so deeply at the time is understood at this time to be inferior to what I have now. Always, in the clarity of hindsight and in the air of admission, there was a reason for the disappointment. I do not regret the pain.

We must accept our dealt cards and shuffle them to our liking. Everything happens for many, many reasons — and the end result, with adequate effort on our part, will always be positive. Trust that. •
